Settlement Society Naapuri

Settlement Naapuri association was established in 1994. It is a part of the world wide settlement movement which started in London in the 1880's. It is politically uncommitted, acknowledges Christian values and operates in accordance with the traditions of the movement with people by avoiding guardian like and supervising attitudes. Settlement Naapuri is an independent organisation which follows the principle program of the Finnish Settlement Society (SSL) and is a member of SSL and the International Settlement Society.
There are over 30 employees working regularly and yearly, about 50 trainees and almost 200 volunteers in the Naapuri.

The work and activity programs of the Naapuri are

Crisis and trauma work: Near relative violence work, individual therapy as well as therapy groups, crisis phone help line, crime victim support.

Community work: Work in two suburbs work families and children, and other people with different kinds of problems, based on the needs of the goal groups.

Special services for young people: Supported housing, tutoring group for basic education, support in work life, The House for Girls: groups and activities for girls between the ages 13 to 23

Immigrant work: Assisting integration and schooling, culture work, supported work activity, family work, trauma work, victim support.
